Because of Woodstock, this song became associated with Woodstock. Was that an original intention of Jimi to see it that way? That weird opening is Jimi playing a tritone, one of the more dissonant intervals some would say the most.

I like hearing him more mellow…his guitar playing was one of a kind. Apparently, he met Hendrix as a young kid and also was at Woodstock where he got a guitar strap from Hendrix.
